Reaching for a warm coat during the colder months is an act many people take for granted. In central Iowa, unfortunately, many kids and teens don’t have this option and instead make do without. Each winter, Hot Spring Spas of Iowa collects new winter coats for area children and teens. This simple gesture often means improved health and academics for the kids. Make the winter a little less cold by donating.
Puppy Jake Foundation
Puppy Jake Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to help wounded military veterans with the assistance of well-bred and professionally trained service dogs. Veterans’ injuries may be invisible such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) or physical mobility impairments. The Foundation advocates for increased awareness and accessibility for those accompanied by a service dog in everyday situations. For more information, please visit puppyjakefoundation.org.
Wounded Warrior Project
Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) began in 2003 as a small, grassroots effort providing simple care and comfort items to the hospital bedsides of the first wounded service members returning home from the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. As their post-service needs evolved, so have our programs and services. Today, through our direct programs in mental health, career counseling, and long-term rehabilitative care, along with our advocacy efforts, we improve the lives of millions of warriors and their families.
